You Must Shine !

Hello Lights, 

It feels much better using this as an opening line. Anyways, Happy New Month to you all. Some of you may or may not know that this month is my birthday even if some of you claim otherwise. For further clarification, I was born the 29th of February. But since 29th only comes once in 4 years, this year, technically, I have no birthday (As some would say). I'll be celebrating on the 28th instead. I'm really excited about this month. I'm not sure why exactly cos so far, this month hasn't been very good. From late payment of salaries, to the new naira notes and the stress/struggle to get cash. Yeah, this month has been a bit frustrating. But, the devil will not kill my joy. 

Moving on today's focus, You Must Shine! As I started writing this, I remembered an analogy my dad used to describe God some years back. He said "If a goat gives birth to goat (kid) and a cow gives birth to a cow (calf), that means that If God is our father and birthed us the we are gods."

"Then God said, 'Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us.'..." Genesis 1:26 NLT 

If we were made like God, that means we at least carry similar qualities and abilities as God. Where am I going with this you ask? 

"This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all." 1 John 1:5 NLT

If you didn't believe me from my last post or you're still having doubts, my brother, my sister, as long as you are a child of God, you are a child of light. Since Goat cannot give birth to cow and cow cannot birth a goat, Light cannot give birth to darkness. If God is Light and he birthed you in his own image, then you are Light. 

In Matthew 5 verse 14, Our light is compared to a city set on a hill that cannnot be hidden. Verse 15 says you cannot light a candle and put it under a cloth. As children of God, we are all called on a mission. Our mission is to go into all the world and spread the news of Christ to every nation (Matthew 28v19). As children of God we are to spread light that we identify as to every form of darkness that we come across. There's this song we used to sing when I was much younger, it says, "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine". 

What are you doing to shine your little light? What are you doing to complete the mission at hand? Thankfully, this mission is not mission impossible but very possible through christ. You must shine as children of God. Its a must. There's no excuse for dimming the light that God has given you. Like a calf runs to its mother for milk, God is your fuel. He's your source.  If you feel low or you think your light isn't bright enough, go to him and he'll recharge and renew you. Your life on earth will be waste if you do not at least impart and impact one soul. Its not enough to just make It to heaven. Take as many people along with you.
